Faith of our Fathers: The Theologies of the American Presidency

President Joe Biden

The Forty-Sixth President of the United States of America

Served from 2021-Incumbent

Lived 1942-Present

Party: Democratic

Denomination: Roman Catholic

As of this reporting, President Joe Biden is the 15th Vice President to later ascend to the United States Presidency. There have been 46 presidents, 49 vice presidents, and 54 First Ladies (43 official and 11 acting in the First Lady Capacity).

President Joe Biden has made no apologies for his Roman Catholic faith, that in some ways differed from his only Roman Catholic predecessor, John F. Kennedy, who often had to assure the public he was no in service to the Pope. Biden’s strong commitment to his faith is how he attributes facing his life’s greatest tragedies, losing his first wife and daughter, Naomi just 6 weeks after winning the Delaware Senate seat. Subsequently, President Biden would lose his son Beau to cancer in 2015 while he was Vice-President to President Barack Obama.

On January 21st, 2021, I participated in the Inaugural Prayer Service for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. You can find the collect I offered here.
