Faith of our Fathers: The Theologies of the American Presidency

President Donald J. Trump

The Forty-Fifth President of the United States of America

Served from 2017-2021

Lived 1946-Present

Party: Republican

Denomination: Unaffilated/Nondenominational

President Donald Trump’s tumultuous term had a historic, albeit disappointing first—President Trump is the only president to have been impeached twice by the United States Congress. Though neither resulted in convictions for his charges, his divisive rhetoric and policies created a climate of discord and division in the country that resulted in the January 6th Insurrection that occurred on the grounds of the United States Capitol.

While Donald Trump lived in New York City, he was an ardent follower of the famed positive-thinking pastor Norman Vincent Peele at Marble Collegiate Church. President Trump subsequently claimed to be a member of Marble Collegiate Church, however the church stated that President Trump “was not an active member” in 2015.

Currently, Donald Trump attends an Episcopal Church in Mar-a-lago, but also claims that he is nondenominational in an appeal to the evangelical vote.
